During the course of my career, I have come to believe that we cannot heal in isolation. And yet, when we are struggling, we often feel alone. Even when surrounded by loved ones, it may feel that they wouldn’t understand or are unable to help, leaving us feeling further isolated. Placing your trust in an experienced therapist is a first step towards greater connection and healing.
Though I work with clients with a variety of complaints ranging from anxiety and depression to eating disorders and PTSD, I use a trauma-informed approach in all of my treatment. That means that what you can expect from me is, first and foremost, an emphasis on safety and an absence of judgment. I believe all behaviors, thoughts, and beliefs make sense when we understand the context in which they developed, and I use that understanding to cultivate self compassion throughout the healing process.
My interventions are based on client goals and draw on a range of treatment modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems and other parts focused approaches, and creative and experiential therapeutic interventions. In addition to my training in EMDR, I have received training under Pia Mellody in the treatment of childhood relational trauma.
